Guidelines for travel to outreach sites during inclement weather

If you are scheduled to travel to an outreach site and feel that it is not safe to travel on the day of travel, call the site by 6 am and inform them you will not be on site that day. Please avoid canceling before the day of travel based on forecast alone.

You MUST call the site and speak with someone there to inform them you will not be traveling that day. A voicemail is not sufficient. Also, send an email to the radiology manager/director for the site as well as the respective radiology medical director, both administrative assistants (Becca Maxwell and Mickey Baldauf), section chief (Newrhee Kim) and associate chief of outreach (John Khalil) and inform them you are working remote that day and that you have contacted the site.

- For Fort Atkinson, call 920-568-5420 or use VOCERA 920-568-5002, ask for “radiology tech” and you will be connected to the overnight tech

- For Richland Center, call 608-647-1870

- For Mauston, call 608-847-1829

If it is a mammography day, please decide whether to reschedule the diagnostic mammograms or whether you would be comfortable interpreting them remotely. Radiologists have read these remotely from GHC or 1 South Park. Communicate your decision to the site when you call.

If you are using the driver service:

- If driver services feel it is not safe to travel, do not travel. Call the site as soon as you find out and inform them you will not be traveling to the site.

- If the decision to not travel is made by regional services, do not travel. Call the site as soon as you find out and inform them you will not be traveling to the site.

- If you feel that it is not safe to travel, contact your driver and inform them. Call the site early in the morning (by 6 am) and inform them you will not be traveling to the site that day.

If you are driving yourself:

- If the decision to not travel is made by regional services, do not travel. Call the site as soon as you find out and inform them you will not be traveling to the site.

- If you feel that it is not safe to travel the morning you are scheduled to be at the outreach site, call the site early in the morning (by 6 am) and inform them you will not be traveling to the site that day.
